Federal tax credit gives eligible first-time home buyers equal to 10% of the home's purchse price, up to a maximum of $8,000. The tax credit is for first-time home buyers, defined as a buyer who has not owned a principal residents during the three-year period prior to purchase, and is available for homes purchased before Nov. 30, 2009. The income limits for qualifying buyers is $75,000 for single taxpayers and $150,000 for married couples. More information is available online.
